Hidden talent stays hidden
The 1% get everything and the 1% of the 1% get most of that too.
I’ve written about Price’s Law before, named after Derek J. de Solla Price …way back in November last year in this article Always back a winner
Back then the really big bucks hadn’t entered the NFT scene & now they have more than 90% of that money has funnelled its way up the top few NFT artists.
If I wanted to add to the effects of Price’s Law all I have to do is report on the money in NFTs, to use BEEPLE in the headline and in the process bury more artists in obscurity & oblivion.
By the way BEEPLE is an ok artist, I like to think of him as the world’s luckiest illustrator and in my not so humble opinion I believe the best NFT artist in the top 20 is XCOPY. He doesn’t need more written about him, but I can make that argument in a very lucid way if I had to.
But instead I want to bring some attention to artists who are obscured by the stampeding lemmings.
Evan Odette
Evan’s art is consistently good evidenced by his extremely high hit rate to miss ..
Even is a highly trained painter from Toronto Ontario, over a decade of honing his skills that allows him to work in any style he likes. The portraits series “ebbs and flows with my thoughts and my mood, it’s a bit of crypto punks, a bit of Boiz, a bit of Rembrandt and a bit of everything else”.
ODD I NERD, 1/1 for 0.6 eth
Homage to the GOAT Walk away as the door slams #65
Possibly, or almost certainly a homage to the great artist ODD NERDRUM
Blind I Guy, 1/1 SOLD,
Sometimes I lose faith in myself when We don’t see eye to eye #63
How refreshing to see a genuine artist creating NFTs from of the complexities of their emotional states.
Compared to another meaningless astronaut, or “this looks like the cool shit that’s generically NFTs”, this is real creativity, real skill and digital painting worthy of being a NFT. There’s a considered process too ..”I make every 5th one a special edition, every 10th has an oil painting base with “procreate” done on top. Every 25th is in an artist’s style and the first was Van Gogh. A process of following the order of artists he admires.
SPL I T 1/1 SOLD
Ever feel different around different people? Tangerine Living Reflection of a dream #38
“its an evolving series that lets me experiment and do whatever I want to.”
This process also allows Even’s emotional state to be embedded into the image too, with titles sourced from Movies, music etc, the above from a Led Zeppelin song.
TOXIC I TEEN, 1/1 SOLD
Right when you’re out they pull ya back in Miss me #51
I highly recommend any true collector of ART NFTs to consider including Evan’s work into their collection. This is quality art by an artist who is both more than capable in the traditional contemporary art world and also able to make compelling NFTs as digitally painted images.
H Scott Roth
This post I’m focussing on beauty & restraint and avoiding strobing idiocy. Instead, art NFTs like this I find far more rewarding.

Zplit
I’VE NEVER BEEN SO CONFUSED IN MY LIFE is the title of a short enigmatic video with music loop by Zplit, which I highly recommend you watch and listen to this.
Still from the NFT
Hauntingly beautiful etherial music by Zplit combined with minimalist imagery in the form of a distorted video loop conveying the sense of travelling with little or no clues as to where or if there’s even a destination.
Description ; I’VE NEVER BEEN SO CONFUSED IN MY LIFE
i have nothing to say
i do not wish to be anyone
i do not understand anything
zplit is an electronic music project that originated in 2014 and spread on the web using Creative Commons licenses (also known as royalty-free music).
Starting 2020, zplit distributes their music in a digital collectible format using the Ethereum blockchain. Some abstracted concepts behind zplit works are futurism, hacktivism, minimalism, censorship resistance, organisation, and privacy.
You’re probably wondering why I’m recommending an artwork so etherial, so undefined, so totally different from the usual fare you see in the NFT scene? How can anyone judge this to be good, to be far more sophisticated than the usual sparkling over colourised dross in the NFT scene. Well, I supposed I can as fan of ambient music for over 3 decades and a collector of the most obscure ambient, drone, techno music. I have hundreds of CDs, many created in small editions of as little as 100. Some CDs even come with a video as well and I would love to see Zplit create more music/video NFTs.
Zplit’s NFT reminds me of the beginning and end pieces of Pan American’s “The Quiet City” , a CD from over a decade ago that also included the entire music set to obscure video images
One of my favourite tracks from THE DEAD TEXAN is THE 6 MILLION DOLLAR SANDWICH. Once again a mesmerisingly beautiful video clip to accompany the music. Ahead of it’s time, I’m begging for many of these artists to now consider entering the NFT space
There are hundreds of music artists that should now enter the NFT World, obviously the early greats like Brian Eno
Meanwhile 2 greats of the art world have recently entered the NFT world and when artists who are the real deal, mature great artists, their NFTs are stunning right from the start.
Shepard Fairey
Obey Ideal Power Mural 1/1 sold for 90 ETH ($178,225) on SuperRare
“The Obey Ideal Power mural NFT explores different incarnations of power and asks the viewer to consider the negative impacts of certain forms of power and the social and environmental benefits of other forms of power. The work intends to provoke an honest analysis of power that should be reformed or regulated because of the damage it causes and encouragement to value the power that aligns with and perpetuates one's ideals.” The NFT carries a Verisart Fair Trade Art Certificate and Shepard Fairey will be personally donating 25% or a minimum of $25,000 of the proceeds to Amnesty International to support their important human rights efforts.
I can add very little to this obviously brilliant artwork by Shepard Fairey other to say that you’ll have to be blind not to see how well it is resolved as an image and how much is lacking from the imitators.
Ron English
The great Ron English has graced the uneven recent fare from Nifty Gateway to show us what a class artist he is.
A still from Ronnnie Rabbbit 51 editions were created
I’m a big fan of Ron English’s art and have been for decades, I even have one of his Ronnnie Rabbbit vinyl figurines.
Hey Jim, this is one of my favorite articles. I am happy to see a couple of nft artists here that actually are skilled. I see allot of bad art.
